Creating Art from the Trestles

The pandemic has thrown massive hurdles at the world. Artist communities and production crews everywhere have had to find creative ways to continue creating. How do we continue to make music together, perform with others, and film it happening when we can’t gather in theaters or studio spaces?

We knew there was a way, we just had to look differently.

In our hometown of Portland, Oregon, we began to notice all of the different ways that the city’s architecture could offer us space to film. We were especially struck by the trestles of the many bridges and how beautifully they transformed into magnificent stages.

This live music video, filmed on location at Zidell Yards, under the Ross Island Bridge in Portland, OR, was produced by Oh! Creative as part of a video series for Portland-based vocal group, Resonance Ensemble.

This is the second episode of the series, and Resonance Ensemble singers are joined by singers from Kingdom Sound Gospel Choir, acclaimed soloist Onry, and pianist David Saffert, in a stunning rendition of “Stand By Me” filmed on a cold and windy day under the trestles of the Ross Island Bridge.

As the pandemic forces us to seek out different ways to continue to offer video services to the clients we serve, The Oh! Team continues to scout for locations around our city that can serve as safe places for artists to perform. We look forward to creating more video for Resonance and other arts organizations in our city, to highlight the gifts artists continue to bring to the world.
